I spent twenty years in universities, design studios, boardrooms and classrooms watching brilliant, accomplished people play in the wrong key without the language for what they were experiencing. I finally realized that I was doing the same thing and I begin to research how to change that.

In that work, I discovered that I am a Human Design Reflector which means I am among only one percent of the population. I am structurally designed to absorb and mirror the frequency of the community around me. — For most of my life I experienced this as a flaw. — But it is not a flaw, it is a gift and when I realized that and begin to synthesize all that I had learned in ready poetry and philosophy. I revisited why I had become an Ignatian scholar and reflected on my work as a graduate student when I studied directly under the poet and political prisoner Dennis Brutus, which was transformational. I learned about the African tradition of the Griot. He taught me that language is witness.
